About Liz Humes

Liz Humes is an artist, writer, radio host, activist and mother. But mostly she just likes to read and listen to people talk. She has read a book a week since February 2005, when the first version of Wordy Birds debuted on WRIR 97.3 FM.

Liz is currently the National Programming Manager at WRIR. In 2004 she raised the money to launch the largest community Low-Power FM radio station in the United States. WRIR is also the only LPFM to broadcast programming from NPR, American Public Media and Public Radio International.

Prior to her involvement with Richmond Independent Radio, Liz was the publisher of Punchline, a free alternative weekly in Richmond. She has also worked with local and national publications including Vegetarian Times, The Richmond Times-Dispatch, Style Weekly and the Greater Richmond Partnership Viewbook

In previous life she worked in marketing for Mattel Toys Inc. and Wham-O.

She lives in Richmond, Virginia with one adoring husband, two daughters, one stepson, a puggle and a parrot.

    Good morning Liz,

    While browsing in “My PRX” I found your name in my Visitor “Footprints.” Couldn’t find any info on you in PRX. So, I “googled” you. Upon my arrival here, I discovered you had 0-comment-responses…so I thought I’d be the first!

    Liz Humes is a phenomenal interviewer. She makes you feel comfortable, asks great questions, and READS the book you wrote!!! Yeah for a great interviewer right here in my hometown.
